Visual artist
communicate ideas, thoughts, and feelings through a variety of methods
and materials. Visual artist generally fall into two categories,
graphic artist and fine artist depending not so much on the medium
but on the artist's purpose in creating a work of art. Designers
organize and design articles, products and materials that serve
the purpose for which they were intended and are visually pleasing.
Many designers specialize in a particular area of design such as
automobiles, clothing, furniture, home appliances, industrial equipment,
interiors of homes and office buildings, exhibits, movie and theater
sets, packaging, or floral arrangements.

range is from $23,000-$97,000
Art and design
jobs are expected to grow faster than average for all occupations
though the year 2006.
Employers generally
prefer to hire people with some experience or other training.

area of specialty with 2-4 years of experience in the field or in
a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and
procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience
and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of
tasks. Works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity
